Northern Lights

I have a vague memory of being on a back road in the middle of nowhere as a kid being absolutely stunned and in awe of the Northern lights.  When I saw that the Northern lights were going to be able to be seen all the way down in Colorado I was really excited, assuming it wouldn't be much of a display.  Before dinner I ran outside with my phone and took a photo and saw only the tiniest pink in the corner of my screen.  I was bummed but convinced everyone to drive to Kettle Lake near our house and go hunting for the lights away from the neighborhood and city lights.  Mike was completely doubtful and the kids probably were too but when they heard I was letting them skip cleanup to go see the lights they were all in.  Guys!  It was incredible!  Even though in Colorado you could mostly only see the lights though a camera, we still saw enough colors with our plain eyes to make it cool and breathtaking though the lenses of our phones and camera.  Everyone was awed.  I just kept thinking, "God has made such an incredible world."  Maybe my excitement sounds dramatic but I really did love it.  I hope it was a core memory for the kids.  I hope they say, "Remember that time when mom rushed us through dinner and declared we weren't doing clean up and then took us to the lake to see the lights? That was awesome."  In reality, they have probably already forgotten the experience.  Hahaha.
