YET

I'm typing on my broken computer.  It won't charge.  As long as it stays plugged in it holds steady at 11% but I'm not sure how long I'll have before it completely stops working altogether.

I'm sick and school started this past week.  I've spent this week feeling like poop, figuring out school drop-off and pick-up, and hanging out with Isaac, who is also sick.  We went for a hike--two sickos huffing and puffing on an easy trail.  Honestly, I don't know what else we did.  All my projects are on hold until Isaac leaves for his mission.  We still have shoe polish and a winter coat to purchase for him.  Also, some Ibuprofen because they don't sell Ibuprofen in Japan since they don't believe in pain reliever and deodorant because many Japanese people don't sweat (?) and their deodorant isn't great.

Anyway, with the kids in school and Mike teaching we are one step closer towards getting into a new normal.  I'm not particularly in love with the routine and season we find ourselves in but I'll get there.  Way back in 2018 we had a family theme of YET and we all got dog tags with YET written on it (that was the year Mike was deployed).  It was a reminder of perspective, of future blessings, of possibilities, of hope.  I put my dog tag on a keychain and I've used it since then.  It's been a reminder to me this week.  I'm not loving things as they are YET.  I don't have to love it YET.  It will happen with time.

So, changing the subject.

May:
-Stocking up on Japanese china to take back to America
-Getting my last roll of film developed before packing my camera up
-A goodbye dinner with Mike's colleague cooked by a professional chef
-Finding new owners for my plants--it felt like giving away a pet
-All the beautiful flowers and the last of the good weather
