Elijah

It seems like I wrote about Eli fairly recently so this will probably be more brief than Isaac's post. I am long winded though...

Everyone loves this boy. Really, I think people are just so amused by his personality that they can't help but love him. He has more personality than any almost three year old I have ever met. He's funny, sweet, stubborn, and and so independent. He makes me laugh daily and also makes me want to pull my hair out daily.

Eli doesn't enjoy going to Kung Fu with the boys because he has to sit in a chair and wait for an hour. So usually, one of us will take the older boys and the other will stay home with Eli. Eli gets to help me make dinner, or go on errands, and watch Dora without his brothers bothering him (he never gets to pick the show). I really enjoy this time with Eli. He has the funniest conversations. The other day while helping me make dinner (more like watching me) I said something silly and Eli put his hand to his head and said, "You're freaking me out Mom."

I mentioned in an earlier post that Eli is much more pleasant now that he doesn't nap. He seems happier and better behaved. We still have our power struggles but it is getting better. He spends much less time in the corner than before and now he actually goes in the corner when we tell him to, rather than us having to threaten and physically walk him there.

He is such a teaser and torments his brothers to no end, especially Isaac. He will chase Isaac around the house with a stick or a toy threatening to throw it at Isaac, the entire time with a huge smile on his face or laughing.

Everyone thinks Eli is older than he is. In fact, the Primary presidency was confused about Eli and his age. They thought he was supposed to go to Sunbeams this year but I had to explain that his birthday wasn't until April. He just really acts older than he is.

Eli has been snoring really, really loud. Snoring like an old man loud. It has been interrupting his sleep so I finally took him to the doctor. I was hoping it was just allergies and by giving him allergy medicine he would have less drainage and therefore, no snoring. However, the doctor said his tonsils are huge and is recommending a sleep study, and depending on the results, surgery to have his tonsils and adenoids removed. I'm not excited about this. Mike has offered to go to the sleep study with Eli (bless his heart, he has no idea what he's in for) and we were hoping to get it all taken care of before the move but I doubt the surgery will happen before then. I'm hoping for no surgery but we'll see.

That's about it for Eli today. He's a fun, energetic, loving, stubborn boy! We love him.

I miss your boys. They are so much fun. They remind me of the time when my boys were young. You and Mike are doing such a good job with those boys. They are going to be wonderful young men.

Ditto what Jason said. All three of your boys are darling. And that little Eli is so fun!

Love that picture of that red headed menice. Meaning, of course, that the will be the menice of any school class. The girls will never be able to learn anything with him in the room to ruminate about.

Sleep studies are not so bad. Just tell him that he gets to pretend he is a space alien for a night and he will not mind the wires on his head. You will all laugh. Take a picture so you can bribe him with it when he gets to be a teenager.

Can't wait to have you guys a little closer this coming year.

Thanks Dad. I worry about him in school too because he is such a teaser and will have the entire class cracking up. That poor teacher.
