A blanket and a dirty room

A while back I wrote about a lady that works with Mike who was super interested in meeting me. She said she had never met a stay-at-home mom and was interested that I actually wanted to be one. She told Mike she had a billion questions for me. Well, I met her back in October when we took the boys trick-or-treating on base. She was really nice and had prepared a little bag for each boy. Since then, I've talked to her a few more times and really like her. She never did ask me any questions about being a stay-at-home mom.

Anyway, she is having her first baby (due a day after me) and she made this cute little blanket for her sister who is also having a baby but then found out that the baby was actually not a girl, but a boy. So, she passed the blanket on to me. I felt it would only be nice to make her something as well. This blanket has taken me forever, since I don't have as much time on my hands. I finally finished it, just in time for graduation tomorrow. She, along with most of Mike's graduating class, are moving next week so I had to get this done!

Now I'm on to another project, one not quite as fun. My guilty conscience won't let me go any longer without attacking it. I have to clean my room...

Every day I harp on the boys about getting their room clean. I make them clean it before they can watch any shows. Then I walk into my room and feel like such a hypocrite. I'm not sure how I can expect them to learn how to keep a clean room if I'm not being a very good example of it.

I actually hate a dirty room. But, my room has become the catch all for everything random in the house--papers I don't know what to do with, books that don't fit in the bookshelf (we need a new bookshelf), random toys the boys bring in, etc. It's just out of control right now and it's driving me crazy.

So, I'm off to get my room clean. Wish me luck.

That is a really cute blanket. That's an interesting experience as well in meeting the woman. Hopefully she'll understand why you want to be a stay-at-home mom once her baby comes.
Good luck with the bedroom -- mine is horrible. I hate being in the room because it's so jam-packed with "things" we don't know what to do with just like yours - papers, extra books, etc. I hate my bedroom! Good luck with yours today.

It's nice to know that someone else has a dirty bedroom - and for the same reason even. I currently have piles of books next to my bed because I need a new bookcase. I have three of them but they are all full. I hate getting rid of books. Good luck with your room. Michelle actually went through ours a couple of days ago so it is much cleaner but I still need to clean up my side of the room.

Oh man, why is it that the adult room is always the last one to get cleaned? I need to make my room a priority, it's usually a disaster zone.

Needing more bookcases is a good sign of life having right priorities. My mother read to us kids and she was constantly reading herself. It is one of my fondest memories of her.

I think your friend is about to find out why it is nice to be a stay at home mom. I could never understand why women, and men for that matter, do not put the many and various activities of a mother in a catagory at least as valuable and difficult as any job in the world.

That's a sweet comment dad. Thanks.
Oh, and Mike said that she has crazy stories about her mom and she said she has just never met a "normal" mom or something like that. I think that is part of the reason she has questions. But, I also think since meeting me and Mike and seeing that Mike doesn't treat me like dirt or that I have to do his bidding when he comes home, that she understands a little better.

Nice blanket. Looks like it took a lot of time and turned out great.

I too have a room that gets attention last. It is the catch all room and every day I need to put stuff away or by the end of the week it's simply horrible. I have had comments from the children before that say, "Why should I clean my room if your room is so bad?" I'm trying to be a better example for them and clean more often.
