Halloween

Halloween is over and I couldn't be happier. I love the fall. I love Halloween and I love Thanksgiving. But, I have to admit that I'm relieved Halloween is over already this year. This year the holiday was just crazy and by Halloween I was over it.

On Thursday Isaac had his preschool party.
It was so much fun and both Will and Eli got to attend too. Then Friday was Will's school party. He got so much junk and the kids didn't have time to eat all the stuff they got that they ended up throwing away half of their plates! After lunch we went to Mike's work where they had trick-or-treating an then later that night was the ward Trunk-or-Treat. And then of course there was trick-or-treating on Saturday. It was just too much! The boys got more candy just at Mike's trick-or-treating than they got the entire Halloween last year.

In our house the kids have to put all their candy in a big bowl and then I get to be in charge of the loot. It works really well for us. The first few days they asked for candy a few times throughout the day but today they completely forgot we even have candy and didn't ask for a single piece. The candy is usually used throughout the year for gingerbread houses, potty training, the reward box, etc. I'm not sure what we are going to do with all the candy this year--throwing it away seems so wasteful to me. Thankfully, I'm not really a candy eater (though I enjoy the occasional candy here and there) so once it's out of sight I usually don't eat it.

Both Will and Isaac knew for months what they wanted to be for Halloween and their minds didn't change much. Isaac originally wanted to be a bat but then he decided batman was way cooler so that was his one change. Luckily, a friend was so sweet to give us one that her son was getting rid of. Isaac wore his costume for days and days and even wore it grocery shopping with me. Cute kid. Eli wanted to be a kitty-cat but I told him he was going to be a monkey. He wasn't really happy about it until I got the costume on and then he thought it was pretty fun. And Will is really into creepy things like zombies and mummies so he chose to be a vampire. All in all, they had a great Halloween and I am grateful the festivities are over.

Oh, and we did carve pumpkins and they looked pretty cool but I failed to get pictures of them. Instead I'll include a picture of Mike. We get serious about pumpkin carving--power drills and all!

Some dentists will buy your candy from you. They don't pay much, but it is a way to get rid of the extra. Your boys look so cute in their costumes.
That's a great idea! Are you going private and can I have an invite?
I love the costumes! Great way to carve a pumpkin, I never thought of using a power tool to do that.

What a fantastic picture of the boys in their costumes. I agree, I am so glad Halloween is over. If the candy was gone I would be much happier - I guess I should get to work.

We didn't even get around to carving pumpkins this year! I can't believe we didn't do it. I'm glad Halloween is over, now I just have to hide the left over candy for gingerbread houses/trains for christmas.

The boys look great in their costumes!

Will looks totally scary! The costumes are great! We didn't carve pumpkins, either. We had some outside but didn't caerve them. The fun kind of went out the door when Amy and the kids left a couple of days before Halloween.

Great costumes. Love that Mike used a power drill on the pumpkins. Jason said the dremel tool works great for carving pumpkins as well. Our whole family loves candy way too much so you can send it our way.
We decided to use the drill because we had a pumpkin that was a skeleton and it had all these little teeth so the drill worked perfectly for the teeth. I still had to cut the rest out though.
