Finally....

It's been awhile. Honestly, I haven't wanted to blog lately. I'm falling out of love with blogging. I find that blogging, rather than fulfilling a need of mine for deep relationships, hinders them. I feel sometimes that people read the blog and then feel they have no need to make contact in any other way, that they have read the update on my life but haven't made any move to actually have a relationship with me. So, I feel that I need better relationships with people and this blog is not helping. I want real contact, real relationships. So, for the time being, this blog will fulfill just the need for an update. If you only want to know what's going on in a general sense, read my blog and if you need or want more than that, you can always call or email me.

This month has been super busy. It's crazy because the boys aren't doing any sports or anything right now but it seems like we are always running and doing something. I'm not looking forward to the days when our kids are teenagers and we are all running a million directions at night as well.

Mike was gone last week. It was a hard week but I can't complain too much. We were busy and that made things go by more quickly. Mike really is a huge help in our home and even just those few hours of him being home make so much of a difference. We did eat our a few times while he was gone, which is really out of the ordinary for us. On Monday we had extra children in our home throughout the day (7 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon) so by the time Family Home Evening came around I said, "How about some Dairy Queen kids?"

The week almost went by without any major emergencies or anything and then the day Mike was coming home I hear Isaac screaming and run outside to find his toe spewing blood. Will had dropped the tree trimmers on Isaac toe from up in the tree and it sliced his toe. I had just put Eli down for a nap and was dreading waking him up and taking all the boys to the ER. I wasn't sure if it was deep enough for stitches but it was a pretty deep cut and being in his toe, I didn't know how to keep it closed. I called my friend who's husband is a surgeon and let me tell you, Heavenly Father was looking after me because my friend's husband is very busy and not home very often but low and behold, at 2:30 in the afternoon he was home! He came over with his doctor stuff and got right to work. Thankfully, he didn't have to stitch anything, just glued Isaac's toe. I can't tell you how thankful I was. It was definitely a tender mercy.

Also this month, I started physical therapy on my shoulder. They have been hurting for four years and getting increasingly more painful. So I went in and now I am doing physical therapy twice a week. The physical therapist said he thinks I might have a slight scoliosis problem and told me my shoulder blades are spread apart and turn in. Also, since we are sharing personal things (you're going to share next right?) my rib cage is all lopsided. I discovered this in college. He believes this to be part of my problem somehow and said I have absolutely zero back muscles. So, when I'm done with PT I should have a ripped back and no more shoulder pain. Hopefully.

Mike finished his last class for his masters this month. Now he just has his research to finish. He most likely will not get Distinguished Graduate because a Nuclear Engineer major has never gotten it and some girl in his major has a 4.0, which Mike does not have (close, but not a 4.0).

Mike has also started to write more of his book this month after taking a few months break.

The boys are doing well. Will learned about Johnny Appleseed this week and has been so excited to tell me all the things he's learning about apples. They had a taste test this week and he informed me that he likes the green sour apples the best.

Isaac started preschool and loves it. He's doing a great job and loves having his own little friends.

Eli is having a hard time with Isaac going to preschool and not him. I taught last week and so Eli got to participate in everything and thought it was his school and his friends so when he found out that he didn't get to participate this week and had to have school with me, he was not happy.

Two funnies to end this post:

We have been learning our Articles of Faith. The boys are on number four but number two is Eli's favorite one. He was praying the other night and said, "Please bless that Daddy will be punished for his own sins and not for Adam's transgression."

And finally, we learned out talents in our CTR class on Sunday. We decided to have a talent show so I had all the kids do something in class. Will had been working on this old, broken remote control all week long, taking it apart and then trying to fix it and putting it back together. When I asked him what he wanted to do for his talent he help up the remote and said, "I want to take my remote in and show everyone that I'm good at screwing things up."

Ha, Ha. They keep me laughing every day.

I'm glad you blog because unfortunatly I don't have time to call. I would love to, but the only person I get called is my Mother and she will even admit that's not enough. I feel like I run around so much between teaching aerobics and with having 4 teenagers. Their schedules keep me hopping. I look forward to seeing what's up in your world because we are so far away. I would love to live closer so we could spend more time together. For now looking at everyone's blogs about once a week is all the time I get to catch up with them. So thank you for blogging.

Life changes when kids are in school and there is a daily schedule! I am at the school every few hours since Abby goes all day and Leah is there half a day. I'm glad the school is close...! You're so lucky to know a doctor that could fix Isaac's toe and that he was home! Good for Will for recognizing his talents whatever they may be! :) -Jen

Dave and I saw Eli's little phrase in his prayer on facebook and laughed so so hard. Cutest thing ever!
I also agree that is was through divine assistance that Josh was ready to jump out of the house at that exact time. He loved doing it. I hope the pt goes well.
Kristi, I am so thankful he did it. I did feel guilty having him leave even for just those few minutes. I know your time with him is always precious. So, you will get blessings for sharing him!

See, you have to keep blogging just so you can remember the cute things the boys are doing at this age.
I'm so glad Issac didn't have another e.r. visit! He's got a target on his back, or something like that.

Blogging for me is my way of keeping a journal. It wasn't about followers and comments, I just like to record what's been going on. As I got more into the blogging scene, I've really become close to those I follow by reading their blogs and feeling a part of their lives.

It is crazy how technology has changed the way people connect with facebook, blogging, twitter, ect...I've actually stopped facebooking It just wasn't doing it for me anymore. But with blogging, it's more personal, for me anyway.

Keep in mind, if you give up blogging, you will be greatly missed. I love reading about your cute little family.

In many ways you remind me of me with your three little boys.

For what's it's worth, I love your blog!

I am slow writing this, but it is so precious that I must mention that your comments made me very happy. That alone is worth the time it took to write it down.

That prayer is one of the funniest things I have ever heard.

Hope you feel well and are happy at the great blessings that you and Mike have. Love you all, and miss you all very much.
