Jeremiah according to Will

Yesterday Will ran into the house and was excited to tell me that the neighbor didn't have his shirt on so he told him to put it on because it wasn't modest. He was a little deflated when he realized I wasn't as pleased as he thought I would be. In fact, I was mortified.

I told him that he was right but that it was rude to tell someone that and that not everyone had our beliefs. I also told him he shouldn't tell adults what to do. I told him he needed to go apologize. I assumed he was talking about our neighbor on the right to whom Will is always talking and who is frequently outside without a shirt.

But today, when I was unloading the groceries from van, our neighbor on the left came over to chat and told us it was him that Will talked to.

He said he was working in his backyard when Will climbed on the transformer box and peeked over the privacy fence to say hello. When Will looked over the fence he noticed that our neighbor was shirtless (it's been very hot and humid lately). Will yelled over the fence, "Hey, in Jeremiah Jesus tells us that we shouldn't take our shirt off. It's not modest. You should go put your shirt on." Today, our neighbor told us that he took his bible to work and read the first five chapters of Jeremiah trying to find the place Will referenced. We assured him he'd be reading a lot of Jeremiah before he ever found this supposed reference. You'd be hard pressed to find a quote from Jesus in Jeremiah, let alone one that says you should keep your shirt on.

We've been laughing about this since we found out. Thankfully, our neighbor was not offended by Will (we had him apologize for being rude) and we told him to watch out because we are going to start feeding Will scriptures, " In Exodus it says you should...."

He better just keep his bible on hand.

Kids are great, I love that they say what's on their mind and being that they are young and cute, it's hard to get offended.

I'm impressed the neighbor cared enough to research it!

Kids just tell it like it is. Too funny.

Daniel once chased a teenager on his bike to tell the guy to quit smoking because it was wrong. As a result Daniel turned a corner too fast, slipped on gravel with the bike and broke his leg. After that I don't think he's been too quick to tell others what not to do.

Oh how I miss that kid! He's great!

And you should be sure to tell Will stories that you might want the neighbor to look up! He's on to something there...

I am sure glad he is my grandkid! What a joy he and the other boys must be. Wish I saw them often, but at least we get great stories and pictures on the blog.

My parents never got either. Sometimes a phonecall of two, but never pictures and a detailed story. These blogs are great.
