Don't expect to see me on a comedy tour any time soon

I have been working on getting a children's book published. The visitor I mentioned in a previous post is an agent who is working with me. She asked me to make a few changes, most of which were easy to fix. One change however, has been giving me grief. I've come up with a lot of different variations but none of them really grab me.

The problem is that the agent emailed me and said about this particular part, "I think that you’ve got the opportunity here to come up with a hilarious, memorable line that could actually “make” this whole book. Let’s see what you’ve got!" Whoa. That's a lot of pressure. This one part has to be awesome. I don't consider myself to be a very funny person. Sarcastic, yes. Funny? No. Trying to come up with something hilarious has proven to be hard for me.

Today I was using Mike as a sounding board to come up with ideas. After one idea I said, "That's not very funny." Mike started to say that it wasn't bad when Will piped up and said, "She's right, Dad. It's not very funny. At least, it's not very funny to me."

So, there you have it. I'm not very funny.

Wow, good for you. I love that you are writing a book. Is it going to be a chapter book or a picture book? Good luck with it.
