"Final" answer

Well, after a week of frustration regarding our next move, we were notified Friday that we will be moving to Ohio for the summer term (which means early May/late April) and we will go directly to Colorado after graduating in Dec 10. This is all absolute...as absolute as you can get with the military, in any case. The truth is, there are still a number of days between now and when we get to Ohio and any 1 of those days could mean another change. We'll see what happens and try to keep you posted.

I hope this is what you both wanted. It's good for us because that means we'll be somewhat close to you guys for at least six months. I hope you wanted to go strait to colorado after the course. I love colorado springs.

Lindsey--that is what we wanted. We have a plan laid out that is based on getting to CO Springs right after AFIT. And, while we readily admit that there is no guarantee that the plan will work out, we were sure it wouldn't if we didn't get to the Academy right after Ohio. You'll have to come visit us there, if you love it.

my I ask what your plan is? It sounds so secretive, so I must know...:) I'm very nosey. For real though, you don't have to share it if you don't want to. I'm just curious.

I'll acknowledge, again, that my plan might not turn out at all. My "plan" is actually a set of plans based on the different assignment types I might get througout my career. All of the plans are the same through Dec 2014 (when I should be leaving the Academy). At that point I plan on doing one of the following: 1. 3-year sponsored PhD program, 4-year follow-on assignment at a research lab, and then back to the academy or AFIT to teach; 2. 2-year foreign exchange engineer to any country they will send me followed by any of the other options; 3. Selection as a regional affairs strategist (RAS)--1+ year at the defense language institute, alternating assignments between engineering and RAS jobs; 4. 4-year lab tour with the hopes of getting selected for a PhD program. We'll see what happens...
