I'm looking for some good product advice

I am looking for some good makeup and things to apply makeup with. I have had Mac makeup in the past and really liked it, I would recommend it to anyone. My favorite eyeliner brush and shadow came from there. But they are really expensive. I am willing to buy more from them but I am wondering if anyone has any makeup loves before I go the expensive way. Do any of you have powder, mascara, blush, or eye shadow that you really love and could suggest? I am not a huge fan of foundation but when I am pregnant I get really red, splotchy skin so foundation of some sort is a must for me right now. Also, I have compact powder. Do any of you use loose powder and how do you like it? Do you have a brush you want to suggest?

I'm especially excited to hear Jess' comments because I know he wears makeup when no one is looking.

I actually like the Loreal powder foundation. The cap has a screw on brush. You can also buy blush like that too. Brent got me some Lancome makeup for xmas that I like too. I don't like their lipstick, but the eye stuff is good.
I have no recommendations to share besides thinking it's totally worth it to go to the professionals, or at least those ladies in the dept stores and getting multiple "makeovers" and advice.

Also, one of my favorite bloggers (June from ByeByePie) is now posting at Chic-Critique.com, and they have some great product reviews there.

I'm a bit of a beauty product junkie--sad, I know. I have used MakeupAlley for reviews of virtually every beauty product in existence (hair, skin, makeup, beauty counter products, drugstore products, etc.), and I like to check the Skin Deep Database for the safety of products I'm using. This was especially useful during pregnancy.

I personally hate spending lots of money on makeup. Some products are worth spending more money on (in my case cheap eyeshadow never stays on), but for the most part, the cheap ones and professional ones seem to do the same job on me.
I recently bought some e.l.f products and I love everything I bought (lip glosses, foundation, eyelash curler, powder) minus the eyeshadows. I didn't buy brushes, but I've heard they are great. Everything is $1.00. I hit it when it was half off, but I have a coupon code for $5 if you want to use it. It is: EGMEMBC
It's so cheap it is worth it to just get some to try it out. Someone said they sell it at Target, but I have never seen it at ours.

I just use whatever makeup has the hottest model endorsing it. -Jess

My vote is Mary Kay because you get that personal touch and a pretty good price. My consultant is one of my favorite people, so that's a plus. She suggested some eye shadow colors, I got an okay from hubby and friends when I modeled it, so I bought them and love them.

Mary Kay has THE BEST eye makeup remover. I don't love their lipsticks, but like their lip glosses.

Oh, and mineral powder foundation is really IN right now. I bought some at a mall stand and like it. I bet every brand sells a mineral powder foundation now--I know Mary Kay started selling it.

I second the mineral foundation suggestion--I switched over about a year and a half ago and am super happy about it.

Oh, and I would NOT recommend the blush from e.l.f either...very crumbly.

I LOVE everything Clinique has too.
Thanks for the advice everyone! I will check out the blog and websites suggested by everyone. I have shopped at e.l.f before and have some of their stuff. I don't like their eye shadow at all but I have been pretty happy with the rest of the stuff. You are right, it is cheap but works! I am trying to decide if I want to go the cheap route or get stuff that is higher quality and last longer. I've also heard of mineral powder and almost bought some but wanted to know what others thought of it.

Mary Kay is a great option. Your consultant matches your skin to the products and makes sure they work before you purchase them. The mineral powder is great. I do not like foundation either, but you can "spot" with concealer and the mineral powder for troubled areas. Also, you may order online or with your consultant directly and they end up on your doorstep. No more shopping for make-up or facial products.
