Baby names

Ok, so Mike couldn't come with me to my ultrasound to know the sex of the baby so I am surprising him on Christmas--then you all get to find out. It's so fun to trick him. He has no clue what the sex is. He thinks it is one thing and then changes his mind and thinks it's something else. So fun. Anyway, many of you have tried to get it out of me and have failed. Stop trying!

Here are a list of names we like. What do you think it should be?

Emerson
James (probably a middle name after my dad)
Maxwell
Nigil
Sawyer
Simon
Timothy
Wesley
Winslow

Alexandria
Elizabeth
Hailey
Isabel
Lydia
Laila (to be read Lila)
Piper
Samantha
Simone

There are some in this list I really don't like that Mike does. What do you think we should name it if it's a boy or a girl?

I like Emerson and Wesley for a boy -- Hailey and Isabelle for a girl. I think they both sound good with your last name. You can't really shorten Emerson though can you? Izzy and Wes are kinda cute. Those are probably the names you hate aren't they :)!

I would pick Emerson and Hailey. Although, Mikayla loves the name Samantha and says if she ever gets a sister that's what she wants to name it. I am not fond of that name myself...

For a boy: Jess or Jesse
For a girl: Jessie or Jessica

I'm not sure you can go wrong there...

Boy: Timothy (of course!)
Girl: Elizabeth or Samantha

What can I say? I like the tried and true classic names with classic spellings :)

Max seems to fit perfectly with your boys: Will, Isaac, Max.
I'm not sure about the girls. You listed a few cute names, but I'm not sure which one had the best "ring" to it with the rest of the fam, you know?

I loved all the boys names -- any would do. But there are three girl names I don't particularly like: Alexandria (for personal reasons), Lydia and Laila. I really dislike the last two.
However, it's the parents' perogative to pick what they want and we'll love them anyway.
Besides, little kids sometimes have hard times saying the "l" sound so they may have difficulty pronouncing their own names.

I really don't like Isabel...you should never name a child that...(that is one of my favorite names, I don't want you to use it up!)

I think you will pick a good name that will fit in for your family.

The L sound is indeed a tough one for kids. My daughter Leah calls herself "Weah" and calls my other daughter "Warren." --Jess

I love the names Emerson, Wesley, and Sawyer for a boy. As long as you keep your hands off of Lydia, Olivia, Benson, and Kavin your okay. I love the names Isabel, Hailey, and Samantha for a girl.

I love the name Wesley for a boy and Hailey or Lydia for a girl. I also like Halle but I realize that wasn't on your list.:) I think they are all cute, though.

Maxwell, Hailey, Isabel--have you read Crocodile on the Sandbank? That's a good Emerson for you! (It's a great book.)
It looks like most of you like Emerson, Wesley, or Maxwell for a boy and Hailey for a girl. We also like Harley but didn't post that one. Mom, we actually love the name Lila. We liked that name before we ever had kids. Kaitlin and Jessica, you can't claim names, you sillys. Who ever has kids first gets them. Kaitlin, you are only 16. By the time you have a baby you won't even like those names anymore. At least you better not have a baby for a LONG time. We will always try and stay away from names we know people want to use in the future but if we like it, we still might use it. We are happy to share names! Anyway, if we have a girl, we probably won't use those names anyway. This is mike, now. Adrianne left this comment without posting it. I hope she wanted to post it.
I liked most of your names, but wanted to comment on the name claiming, name sharing. Laura's whole name is Maria Laura, and her sisters name is Maria something or other and alot of her cousins are Marias also. While there's allot of Catholic influence there, it is a good example of how easy it is to share. Isabel is one of my favorite girl names also. Wouldn't it be fun to have two other cousins with the same name? At reunions we could say, lets see how the Isabels are doing.
