Thanksgiving in Kansas City

We had a great Thanksgiving in Kansas City this year.  My sister hosted my family as well as my brothers Jason, Lance, and David and their families.  We left here Monday so we could spend a few days playing before Thanksgiving.  My sister took us downtown so we could check out this cool place called Kaleidoscope.  It's a free place where kids can go and make creations.  All of the kids had a great time there.

Later that night we went out for some BBQ and then Mike insisted on ice cream afterwards.  My sister drove us to this shopping center and we froze our butts off walking to the ice cream shop and when I rounded the corner and saw where they were taking us I started laughing and said, "Oh no, this won't do."  They had taken us to a yogurt shop and Mike hates yogurt.  I just thought it was so funny that we were all going out for ice cream for him and then we ended up in the one place he wouldn't want to go.  My siblings got hot chocolate at the yogurt shop and Mike and I walked a few more shops down to Cold Stone so Mike could get real ice cream.
On Thanksgiving day I decided very last minute to have my sister take our picture.  I hadn't intended on us getting our picture taken so I hadn't planned outfits or any of that junk and so I just had us all wear whatever clothes we had that matched the most.  Eli made it impossible to get a good picture but really, we just needed one of all of us for this year.
The day was wonderful.  Everyone helped make the food and the kids were awesome.  I don't even remember one kid coming in and begging for food or whining about being hungry.  They all just played while the adults all made the meal.  And it was a delicious meal!

After dinner we all just chatted while the kids played together.  I was amazed at how well they all played together.  There were almost no fights the entire week and it was heavenly.  I love that the boys had so many cousins to play with.  I didn't get a picture of all the cousins together but there were 16 cousins and that is only from five of the eleven siblings!

Each night after the kids went to bed the adults played games late into the night.  I'm not much of a game player and I generally lose at every game I play but it was so much fun just to laugh and spend time with my siblings.  The only thing that would have made it better is if my parents and other siblings could have joined us.

It truly was a memorable Thanksgiving and I'm so glad my sister offered to host us all.

I was so happy all of you got together! I wish we could have joined the crew, but I'm really glad the little cousins got a chance to play together and get to know each other better. That's what families are about.

That comment was from Mom -- dang Jim removed me from the blog. I keep forgetting to add me on here.

That looks like such a great reunion of sorts. Glad you guys made the drive out there and hope it was awesome.

It was so great to spend time with you and your family. We had a ton of fun. All the dairy was great too! Seriously, Mike should consider sending cheese to family and friends as a Christmas gift.
Lance and Nancy, We had so much fun! Our favorite time was when we just got to hang out at the end of the night playing games and laughing. I loved getting to know John and Ted--such cuties. And stroking John's head at night, heaven. Does that sound creepy?
