August

I think the only interesting things that happened in August were Trek and school starting.  Eli, Piper, and I went on trek together and then a few days later the kids started school.  While I had made sure we were prepared before trek for the start of school, it still felt rushed since we just jumped from one event to the next.  Mike had to start teaching classes while I was at trek so I made arrangements for him to take Felicity and Olive to other people during those days I was gone.

School seems to be going well so far, three months in.  Eli has a few really hard classes but it's balanced by some really easy classes and some fun ones.  This year I don't have to worry about driving him to school or seminary so it makes my life a lot easier.  On seminary days he also drives Piper for me.  It's great for me and I think Piper likes it too.

Felicity loved school last year.  She's pretty lukewarm this year.  She is in a class with only 5 other girls and 15 boys.  She likes her teacher now but at the beginning she was not pleased, for no reason really other than that her teacher isn't her teacher from last year.  Her class does seem to be a little hard but she is happy with her teacher now and has made friends with the girls in her class.

Piper continues to love middle school.  She was selected for some anti-suicide club.  It has a name but I can't think of what it is right now.  Teachers select students who display leadership qualities and who seem to have the ability to influence their peers.  The students get together for fun team building activities and eventually, at some point in the year, they all come up with an anti-suicide campaign and go around and encourage people not to commit suicide.  That's all I've gathered so far.  She likes it.
